Penny Chivas in 'Burnt Out' at Eden Court

03 November 2021

Starts: 19:30

Wednesday 3 November 7.30  Eden Court  One Touch Theatre

Weaving spoken word and movement, we are taken through Australia's fiery history through dance and sound with artist Penny Chivas.

Embedded in sound is the Australian Black Summer; magpies that have learnt to mimic emergency sirens, shark sirens and helicopters circling overhead. With original music by Paul Michael Henry interwoven with lighting design by David Bowes, Burnt Out is an autobiographical dance-theatre work from the daughter of an environmental geochemist, bringing together fact and personal account.

Burnt Out is both an intimate personal story and a universal meditation on our changing climate.

Penny wishes to acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the land involved in Burnt Out, and to pay her respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders; past, present and future.

UK Divest Day of Action

03 November 2021

Wednesday 3 November

From Sussex to Manchester to Hampshire, people are coming together with a clear message for our local leaders: stop funding fossil fuels. As world leaders take part in the UN’s COP26 climate talks in Glasgow, people are coming together across the UK to demand that our local leaders divest from fossil fuels and instead invest in climate justice and a safer future for us all.

On Wednesday, we will rally outside town, city, and county halls to tell local decision-makers that climate justice is not just the responsibility of global leaders — it’s theirs too.Find out what's going on near you and how you can add your voice.
